Lamoille Union Challenge Course offers youth and adults an alternative, experiential, challenging, and fun opportunity to learn about themselves and how to collaborate with others, take risks, solve problems, and think creatively.
Features
We have a versatile course that can meet the needs of a half- or full-day program. A few of our elements include: Mohawk Walk, Wild Woozy, Swinging Tires, Whale Watch, and a Nitro Swing. We also have two high elements--the Giant Swing and the Flying Squirrel!
History
The Lamoille Union Challenge Course (LUCC) was built in October 2005 with the support of the Healthy and Safe Schools Grant. The construction was completed by High 5 Adventure of Brattleboro, VT.
Who Can Schedule Programs?
Members of the Lamoille North Supervisory Union, community partners, and external organizations may schedule programs. Please contact the Challenge Course Manager for more information.
How do I schedule a Challenge Course Program?
All program requests must be made through the Challenge Course Manager via email. Please include:
- Your name and title (relationship to group)
- Group/Organization name, address, phone, and email
- Today's date and proposed date of program
- Number and age/grade of participants; Number of chaperones
- Preference for Half-day or Full-day program
- Program goals
In addition, each participant must complete a Medical/Release of Liability Form. Participants that have not completed the requisite forms will NOT be allowed to participate in the program.
How do we prepare for a day on the challenge course?
In order to get the most benefit from your time at the LUCC, you must be dressed appropriately. Where clothes that allow for ease of movement--plan to run, jump, and play! Close-toed shoes are mandatory on the challenge course. We also suggest that you dress in layers; the weather in northern Vermont can change quickly and without warning (and rain gear is always good to bring)!
Our course is located entirely outside, so please bring any drinks and food that you may need. It is also pack-in/pack-out so please plan accordingly.
