PROJECT GRADUATION - Lamoille Union High School PROJECT GRADUATION 2009- JUNE 13, 2009 Our seniors are nearly finished with high school, and graduation is right around the corner. On June 13, 2009, Project Graduation will treat the senior class of 2009 to a night to remember.....at no charge to the student. This is a substance-free night designed for the seniors to have a great time in a safe environment. The night’s schedule will begin at 6 pm with seniors being dropped off at LUHS by a parent or other adult (students are not allowed to drive themselves to the bus). Coach busses will take them to Smuggler’s Notch for two hours of casino fun and a magician, then on to Pizza Putt in Burlington for laser tag, miniature golf, batting cages, plenty of pizza, and arcade games. At midnight we will transport them to a Champlain Ferry where they will have a three hour cruise on Lake Champlain with a DJ and dance. We will wind up the night about 4 am Sunday morning by returning the students to LUHS. A PARENT/GUARDIAN, as well as the senior student MUST complete and sign a permission form in order for the senior to attend. These forms will be available this week in the Guidance Office with Ms. Cooney. Please encourage your LUHS graduating senior to attend the Project Graduation Party the evening of June 13, 2009. If possible, please schedule your family parties for Saturday or Sunday afternoon, leaving Saturday night open for this last time all of the LUHS 2009 seniors will be together as a class. Questions? Contact Maryanne Newsom-Brighton at 888-6954 or email at All seniors and senior parents are encouraged to get involved. If you are interested in helping but can't make a meeting, please contact: Project Graduation Coordinator, Maryanne Newsom-Brighton |

A LITTLE HISTORY At the suggestion of the Lamoille Boosters, a group of parents and students decided to try to resurrect Project Graduation. Many schools throughout Vermont and the U.S. organize a night of festivities for their graduating seniors that don’t involve drugs and alcohol. The aim is to keep kids safe while allowing them a final fun-filled school gathering. The last LUHS Project Graduation took place in 2004. The celebration was discontinued, however, due to lack of student interest and participation. |
