LAMOILLE UNION HIGH SCHOOL
STUDENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The Student Assistance Program (SAP) at LUHS offers students and their families’ access to substance abuse services that include education, prevention, intervention, screening, assessment and referrals. Working with the guidance staff, faculty, administration and community resources, the SAP counselor is able to help students overcome any struggles they might have as a result of substance use. For some students this help is due to their own substance use, for others it is due to substance use within their families or by friends. The SAP Counselor, Mr. Bouchard is available to consult with parents, answer questions and offer support or encouragement to anyone experiencing problems related to substance abuse and addiction.
Although the SAP counselor is a Licensed Substance Abuse Clinician, and the focus of Mr. Bouchard’s position is related to substance abuse, students may access his services for a variety of other reasons. Serving as part of the guidance staff, Mr. Bouchard spends time with students helping them negotiate those adolescent years that are often difficult and frustrating. There are many things that can prevent students from being successful in school; attendance, behavior, issues within families, depression and relationship problems to name a few. For some students, these problems may be the result of substance use or they may lead to such a choice. The student assistance program was developed to help students be more successful in school and to help students access any necessary services that would help them in that endeavor.
All LUHS students have access to the student assistance program. While members of the faculty and school administration refer students directly to Mr. Bouchard, students may also contact him for assistance. Additionally, parents, other students and community agencies may make referrals for SAP services as well. If you are interested in learning more about the SAP program or any services Mr. Bouchard can offer, you can contact him by calling 802-851-1373.
You may also reach him through e-mail, kbouchard@luhs18.org.
