This course is the first in a sequence for students desiring the essentials of a well-rounded math background. Topics are taught using a variety of technologies and hands-on experiences and include: data organization and spreadsheet use, reflection in lines, linear equations, areas, tessellations and nets of solids, probability, exponential growth, volumes and linear models of data, direct and inverse proportions, similarity, inequalities and linear programming.
Evaluation Methods: homework, quizzes, tests, class work, class projects, notebooks, exams, portfolio exercises and other appropriate assessment tools. |

This course is the second in a sequence for students desiring the essentials of a well-rounded math background. Topics are taught using a variety of technologies and hands-on experiences and include: matrix operations, Pythagorean theorem and right angle trigonometry, measures of central tendency, probability, volume and surface area, linear programming and solving systems of equations, transformational geometry, negative and fractional exponents and geometric properties.

This first course in math for the college preparatory student consists of number sets, the language of algebra, mathematical expressions, signed numbers, solving equations and using equations to solve problems, solving inequalities, working with polynomials, special products and factoring, operations with fractions, relations, graphs, systems of open sentences in two variables, rational and irrational numbers, quadratic equations, inequalities. The course includes explorations in geometry, trigonometry, probability and statistics.
